摘要

This study was conducted to develop a height. diameter at breast height (dbh) model and to estimate the biomass of Pinus kesiya Royle ex Gordon forest in La Trinidad, Benguet, Philippines. A total of 356 observations of this species were fitted to the exponential nonlinear growth function. The result showed that this model provided a good result with a coefficient of determination (R(2)) of 0.91. The overall mean difference (MD) and absolute mean difference (AM D) for this model were 0.0015 and 2.3897 m, respectively. On the other hand, in order to determine the aboveground biomass (AGB) and belowground biomass (BOB) of the trees, a non-destructive method or allometric equation was used. The average biomass density of P. kesiya in the eight established plots was estimated 103.79 Mg ha(-1). The biomass density of other species found in this forest was estimated 29.31 Mg ha(-1). On the overall estimation, the average biomass of this forest was 125.77 Mg ha(-1). Using the IPCC default value of 47%, a total of 59.11 Mg ha(-1) were the carbon stocks present in the biomass of trees in the mixed P. kesiya forest.
