The hydrothermal reaction of H(2)aip (aip(2+)= 5-aminoisophthalate) and Cd(II) acetate dihydrate yields an unprecedented three-dimensional (3,4)-connected network, [Cd(aip)(H2O)].H2O, with 6(5)8 topology and interesting photoluminescent behaviour in the solid state.
