A Layered Zinc(II) Coordination Polymer Containing Infinite Zn-S-Zn Chains and its Cluster-like Derivative

A layered zinc(II) coordination polymer, Zn(SPh)(im) (1), was synthesized under solvothermal conditions. This compound exhibits a sql topology with zinc thiolate chains cross-linked by imidazolate ligands. To further incorporate S2- ions into the synthetic system, the animidazole-ligated P1 cluster, Zn8S(SPh)(14)(Him)(2)PhSSPh (2), was isolated and structurally characterized.
