摘要
Airflow-induced noise from high speed hard disk drive (HDD) is first studied experimentally. Three cases involving the HDD in three different configurations are selected to analyze the contribution of airflow-induced noise in the overall noise level. They are (1) motor without HDD top cover and disks, (2) motor without disks but with top cover, and (3) a complete drive. HDD sound power is measured for the three cases individually. The sound power contribution from airflow force is obtained through sound power change calculation. Finally, a methodology is presented to predict airflow-induced noise through boundary element method (BEM).
