摘要

The characteristic of matching efficiency between the far-field of the fundamental mode for two kinds of waveguides and its Gaussian approximate field is analyzed respectively, then, a new method that divergence half-angle for the Gaussian approximation should be defined based on the maximal matching efficiency method is presented. Relationship between the divergence half-angle for the Gaussian approximate field obtained from the maximal matching efficiency method and normalized frequency is studied and two formulas of divergence half-angle as function of normalized frequency are proposed for two kinds of waveguides.
