A continuous process for the production of a fabric reinforced polymeric matrix

A continuous method to produce monolayer lay-flat hoses is described in this work. Our first goal was to develop a new continuous method for the production of a polymeric matrix reinforced with fabric (monolayer lay-flat hoses). Then, we faced the big challenge of achieving the same properties as the existing products obtained by the current uncontinuous method that prevails in the market. These important properties are bursting and working pressures, adhesion between polymer matrix and fabric, tensile strength and modulus, weight per metre and maximum load. Another crucial matter is the economical side. Therefore, the proposed method was evaluated in terms of production costs and tangible assets (machinery investments). It was concluded that the final product by the proposed continuous production method is highly competitive from a quality and economic point of view.
