摘要

In this research a novel method of coarse wool slandering with minimum tensile strength reduction was explored. To obtain the optimum condition, the response surface methodology through the central composite design in Design of Experiments (DOE) was applied and the optimum values for application conditions were obtained. Test results showed that diameter and tenacity of the optimised samples decreased 16.5-20% and 42.7-53.1%, respectively. Biochemical treatment of the fibres with a cross-linking enzyme (microbial transglutaminase) improved its tenacity by 52.4%. FTIR and Raman spectroscopy were performed for five categories of untreated, stretched and enzyme after-treated wool fibres. It was evident that upon stretching the secondary structure of the fibres transformed from alpha-helix to beta-pleated sheet conformation.
