摘要

A new, simple, sensitive and low-cost spectrophotometric method for the determination of captopril (CPT) in pharmaceutical formulations, using the free radical, 2,2-diphenyl-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH center dot)), is proposed. In its radical form, DPPH center dot has an absorption band at 515 inn which disappears upon reduction by CPT (an antiradical compound). Beer's law is obeyed in a concentration range of 7.60 x 10(-6) - 5.32 x 10(-5) mol/L of CPT with an excellent coefficient of determination (R-2 = 0.9996). The limit of detection and limit of quantification were 1.02 x 10(-8) and 3.42 x 10(-8) mol/L of CPT, respectively. The proposed method was successfully applied to the determination of CPT in commercial brands of pharmaceuticals. No interferences were observed from the common excipients in the formulations. The results obtained by the proposed method were favorably compared with those given by the official reported method at 95 % confidence level.
