摘要

Within a recently finished funded research-project the load carrying behaviour of thrust rings for the transfer of axial loads from the penstock to the rock was studied. Based on laboratory tests of pipes FEM-models were calibrated in order to investigate large scale thrust ring configurations.
Based on a parametric study, considering practical dimensions, a simple design model was developed. This design model includes the calculation of stiffness, ultimate load capacity and stress distributions in the elastic range it was presented in the first part of the paper. Also the interaction behaviour of several thrust rings was presented, leading to a simplified rule in the design model for the longitudinal force in the highly-stressed thrust ring.
In addition - within this second part of paper - the complex load carrying behaviour was demonstrated for one example and the background of the design model was shown in detail.
