DESIGN OF BAND NOTCHED CPW-FED MONOPOLE ANTENNA USING TWO SYMMETRIC PARASITIC ELEMENTS FOR UWB APPLICATIONS

摘要

In this paper, a novel compact modified pentagonal shaped planar ultra-wideband (UWB) monopole antenna with small size of 19.5 x 21 x 1 mm(3) is presented. The band rejection operation achieve at the WLAN band (5.15-5.85 GHz) band by adding two symmetric pentagonal shape parasitic patches. The antenna is fabricated on FR4 substrate with a relative dielectric constant of 4.4 and thickness of 1 mm which fed by a 50 Omega line. The calculated and measured impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna ranges from 3 GHz to 12 GHz for a VSWR less than 2. Also, it has a relatively stable radiation patterns over its whole frequency band of interest.
