摘要

We studied the composition of the amphibian fauna of the Vitoria municipality, an urban area in south-eastern Brazil. Fieldwork was conducted from February 2004 to December 2005. Besides field expeditions, we searched in collections and specific literature to compose this inventory, comprising a total of 34 amphibian species in two orders: Gymnophiona, represented by the species Siphonops annulatus, and Anura, represented by the families Bufonidae, Craugastoridae, Cycloramphidae, Hylidae, Leiuperidae, Leptodactylidae, Ranidae and Pipidae. The alien invasive species Lithobates catesbeianus was also recorded from within the area. The wide geographical distribution of most species demonstrates a prevalence of habitat-generalists. Even so, we suggest a constant and long-termed monitoring programme to ensure the survival of species dependent on forest environments.
