摘要

Hybrid stepping motor (HSM) incorporates merits of variable-reluctance and permanent-magnet (PM) stepping motors. However, since its PMs are located in the rotor and axially magnetized, design, analysis, and performance improvement of this kind of motor proves to be difficult. A novel stator-permanent-magnet HSM (SHSM) with PMs embedded in stator is proposed in this paper. It has the same operation principle as the traditional HSM, whereas superiorities such as simpler rotor structure, higher mechanical robustness, higher power density as well as easier heat dissipation of the PM. Design and analysis of the SHSM is also simplified due to the motor's 2-D distributed magnetic field nature. The normalized analysis method is put forward to calculate the motor's electromagnetic performances and validated utilizing the 2-D finite element analysis. Based on which, the motor dimensions and parameters, including the core diameter, stack length, PM size and winding turns, are initially calculated. A prototype of 2-phase 8-pole 50-rotor-tooth SHSM is designed and built for exemplification.
