摘要

Schistura ferruginea, new species, is described from a small rivulet of the Barak River drainage (Brahmaputra basin) at Maram, Senapati district, Manipur, India. It is distinguished from congeners by a unique combination of characters: no axillary pelvic lobe, a patch of dusky pigment deep under the skin at mid-lateral line above pectoral fin, 17-19 thin irregular dark olivaceous bars on body, 7 1/2 branched dorsal-fin rays, incomplete lateral line, and truncated to slightly emarginate caudal fin with 9 + 8 branched rays.
