Guidance given by mentors during teaching practice is of importance. In this sense, it is a necessity for faculties to cooperate with schools, and share the responsibility with them. This study aims to analyse the primary school mathematics pre-service teachers experience of mentoring practice in private and public schools. It also aims to determine and compare what mentoring applications are from the point of pre-service teachers for the effective teaching of mathematics, by using mentors in private and public schools. This research is a qualitative research to determine the current situation and to analyse it. A semi-structured interview form with 3 questions was developed by the researchers so as to gather qualitative data. Generally speaking, it is seen that pre-service teachers faced no problems in the practice lessons. Some of the pre-service teachers stated their satisfaction with the private schools, some with the public schools. Suggestions were given to the mentors in part of the research conclusions.
