摘要

The longitudinal corner surface crack occurred at the initial production stage of continuous bloom caster at PISCO (Panzhihua Iron & Steel Co.). Therefore, a thermo-mechanical model was developed to analyze the heat transfer and the stress distribution of strand in the continuous bloom casting mold. The heat transfer in the mold and the strand was analyzed with the steady model and the transient model, respectively. The contact between mold and strand was taken into account in the mechanical model to treat the air gap formation in the mold corner, and the strain and stress of strand were analyzed with thermal elasto-plastic model. The results of temperature and stress distribution in continuous bloom casting with two different mold configurations show that the corner size has a great effect on heat transfer near the strand shell corner. When the corner size is optimized from 25mmx45 degrees to 12mmx45 degrees, the strand temperature becomes lower and the solidified shell thickness becomes thicker, which will reduce the cracking tendency near the strand shell corner.
