摘要
A formal synthesis of the sesquiterpene parvifoline is described. The key step of the synthesis is an aromatic Cope rearrangement of a trans-1-aryl-ethenylcyclobutancarbonitrile. It is in fact a ring-expansion type reaction with the advantage of achieving the fusion, expansion and rearomatization in a single step.
