Polyhexamethylene guanidyne (PHMG) derivatives-contg. polylactide films (concn. 0.2-1.0% by mass) were exposed on action of seawater at 20 degrees C for 7 days to study their biodegradability by detn. of BOD by microorganisms present In the water by a std. method. The addn. of PHMG resulted in deterioration of barrier properties of the film but did not affect the susceptibility to biodegrdn. except for the addn. of PHMG p-aminbenzenesulfonate where the biodegrdn. was obsd.
