摘要

An experimental method to simulate stiffness reduction of a compressed member using a magneto-rheological (MR) damper was presented. The compressional stiffness of the member was adjusted by varying the current of the MR damper. In a transmission tower partial truss model dynamic test, instantaneous compressional stiffness reduction was simulated with this approach. The dynamic response of the model was processed with a joint time-frequency analysis, and then the damage time was figured out precisely. The result showed that this method is effective in model tests.
