Dispersion and rheological property of the concentrated TiC suspension

摘要

The dispersion and rheological behavior of TiC powders (0.1 similar to 100 mu m) were investigated by the measurements of Zeta potential and viscosity. The results show that the isoelectric point of TiC particulates is at pH 2. Addition of dispersant increases the Zeta potential in magnitude and modifies the surface to more negative charge. A concentrated suspension with 52% solid volume can be obtained with a proper amount of the dispersant and the TiC powders are dispersed stably in the suspension. The rheological behavior of the concentrated TiC suspension follows the power law model at low shear rate and the Quemada model at high shear rate.
