Emergency medicine: From transgression to confirmation of hospital segmentation in specialities

The emergency departments accomodate the rest of the clinical and non-clinical problems that classic hospital medicine do not wish treat. The object of this article is the professionalization of the emergency medicine. The methodology of this research leans on the reading of works and documents on the hospital and the medicine, active participating observation within emergency units and within specialized departments and semi-directive interviews and informal conversations with medical and paramedical staffs of Emergency and specialized units. On one hand, emergency physicians promote a transgressional renovation of the medical order; on the other hand, they institutionalize their place into the hospital by denunciation incompetences of social and medical system that they observe, perpetuating of hospital segmentation in specialities.
