摘要
Asbury Church in Peking is a Methodist Episcopal Church designed by Warren H.Hayes, a 19th century American architect.Though located in a country with different culture background and with long distance from American mainland, the Asbury Church in Peking reflects and inherits unique church design concept raised by designers in America.Hayes has applied his " Diagonal Plan" and "Akron Plan" theory into the construction of Asbury Church and shown his talent in acoustics, space and architectural form.As one of the patrons, the Methodist Episcopal Church has realized the architect' s design intention and Hayes has transplanted his idea originated in America into the geographical and cultural space of Peking as the most direct way like the diagonal line in a quadrangle.
