Considering the field near transmission lines may affect wireless communication of the monitoring devices. The wireless communication test platform of high voltage alternating current(AC)electric field is built under the actual operating environment of reference circuit. The experimental electric field is generated by analog wire and the communication speed is measured between different wireless network devices under different experimental electric field. Several experiments are conducted under different wire radius and humidity. The effect of WIFI network under AC electric field is studied. From the research results, it is shown that with the increase of the electric field intensity around the line, the communication rate will decrease firstly during a period and then increases. Under the condition of low electric field intensity, the air will not be ionized, and the communication rate is negatively related to the electric field intensity. Under the condition of high electric field intensity, the significant air ionization has been observed, and the communication rate will be positively related to the electric field intensity. Furthermore, the communication rate variation will occur with the change of both line diameter and air humidity, in which the same law will be followed. The difference is that the variation curve will be shifted with different inflection point. For the wireless communication of transmission online monitoring, a new research perspective will be provided by this paper with the experimental support.
