A Half-Subtractor Logic Circuit Based on the DNA Double Hairpin Structure

The accuracy and predictability of DNA complementary base pairing makes DNA nanotechnology a reliable and programmable control method, which can realize the complex reaction network with digital and analog behaviors on the nanostructure. In this paper, the DNA double hairpin structure was used to design the strand displacement reaction with the toehold as the recognition domain, which realized the basic logic operations of the AND gate, the NOT gate and the XOR gate, and then, the half-subtractor logic circuit was constructed. Through the simulation and analysis, the feasibility and effectiveness of constructing the molecular logic circuit by using the DNA double hairpin structure was proved. The logic operation based on the DNA double hairpin structure makes the probability of the leakage reaction in the cascade operation greatly reduced, which provides a new method for constructing more complex logic circuits.
