摘要

A series of cuprous oxide mcrocrystal thin films on ITO glass with different shapes and sizes have been successfully synthesized via electrodeposition method in CuSO4solutions containing different amounts of polyethylene glycol (PEG) additives. The amount of the PEG could give important impacts on the shapes, sizes and sunlight photoactivities of the as-prepared Cu2O micocrystal films. It was found that with the increase of PEG, on the one hand, the shapes of the cuprous oxide mcrocrystals were gradually changed from irregular shape to cube, to octahedron, and to the final similar spherical shape, and the sizes were getting smaller and smaller from around 200 um to bellow 1um;on the other hand, the photocatalytic activities in photo-degradation of methyl blue under sunlight gradually increased. The morphology variations mainly caused by different growth rate in different directions of Cu2O crystals because of the PEG absorption on the certain crystal plane, which further affected the photocatalytic activities.
