摘要

The finite element method has been recognized as an important computational tool to explain the functional biomechanics of the lumbar spine and to provide an assessment of spine with spinal instrumentation. However, the physiological loading is unknown due to a lack of data on muscular physiological loading. Simplified loads or estimated muscle forces were used to load lumbar finite element models, and the unique load for the lumbar finite element model is still not established till now. Therefore, the aim of this article is to review different static loads applied on lumbar finite element models. It shows the development of the loads for the lumbar finite element studies, and both of the follower load and muscle forces are acceptable nowadays.
