摘要

A study was conducted to verify the hypothesis about the downward effect of lexical grouping known as the word superiority effect on the phenomenon of motion-induced blindness, the effect of subjective disappearance of visual stimuli presented against the background of a moving mask. The study demonstrated absence of the above effect. Parameters of disappearance of isolated letters constituting a word, when presented with a moving mask, are not different from standard. This suggests limited role of attention in cases of motion-induced blindness.
