摘要

Happiness is an old but eternally renewed topic for scholars. Then how about the happiness in British eyes? This paper, based on data from British National Corpus and by analyzing collocates, intends to investigate what happiness is for British people. Our findings are the followings: 1) As an emotion happiness is similar to"joy"and"pleasure"but it has a premise—health;2) Peace, success and money can contribute to happiness;3) Happiness is transient, changeable and shareable;4) It is inclined to be a collective notion.
