摘要

The Gangou. Bridge located in Dalian, China, is a single-plane through continuous beam-arch hybrid bridge with the longest main span of its type at present. The single-plane configuration gives the bridge an aesthetic quality and enhances driver comfort, and, at the same time, the extremely short side span provides a new structure characteristic. The advantages of this type of bridge are that it reduces the girder end rotation over a simple system and increases the main span compared with the normal continuous system. The construction of the bridge began in June 2009 and was completed in October 2013. This paper introduces several features of the bridge, including type selection, structural behavior, scheme conformation and construction method, and presents the key factors and solutions in its design and construction. Its excellent mechanical behavior together with the significant economic benefit that it provides make this type of bridge an efficient and elegant solution for moderate- and large-span bridges.
