摘要

Metal bellows have wide applications in different industries. Previous works have focused on various aspects of bellows but there are a few papers that have dealt with the forming process of the metal bellows. Design and production of the metal bellows require knowledge about tube material behaviour during forming process and the control of the forming operation itself. These issues are studied analytically in the present paper. Metal bellows forming process consists of bulging and folding of an initial tube. There are many process parameters such as internal pressure, die stroke and material properties which affects the final bellows dimension and quality. The effects of these parameters on the final bellows dimension and quality have been analytically investigated. The analytical models constructed in this paper are used to show the limits during the forming process and how different material and process parameters such as die stroke and internal pressure influence the result of the forming. In order to verify the results of the analytical investigation, experimental examinations were carried out. Theoretical results from the present analysis were shown to be in good agreement with the experimental data. The proposed analytical models can be used to determine the desired parameters to achieve an acceptable bellows. The results of the present work can be used by process engineers to design an economized forming process.
