摘要

This paper describes different technologies used for manufacturing nonwoven fabrics from flax fibers and flax waste. It has been seen that carding, air-laying, and wet-laid techniques could be used for web formation, and that needle punching, hydroentangling, stitch bonding, and thermal bonding could be used for web bonding. These processes are described here in brief with the consequence of flax fiber. Different physical, mechanical, and functional properties of flax nonwovens reported by various researchers have been described here in brief. Potential areas of application of flax nonwovens, such as filtration, medical textiles, automotive textiles, composites, and geo-textiles have been highlighted.
