A Teaching Tool for the Handwriting Quality of Chinese Character Strokes Based on Mobile Device

In order to improve the limitations of traditional teaching methods, this paper presents a teaching tool for Chinese characters handwriting. Its features include two points. Firstly, it can demonstrate the dynamic writing process of the template character strokes. Secondly, it can automatically evaluate the quality of handwritten Chinese character strokes and give feedbacks. These features allow users to learn Chinese character handwriting under unattended operation. For running on mobile phones, tablet PCs and other mobile devices, this tool is suitable for anytime and anywhere learning occasion. Moreover, this tool has two different evaluation levels for strokes quality, "loose" and "strict", so as to provide appropriate guidance for people with different backgrounds who learn Chinese character writing. Experimental results show that this tool played a good supporting role for teaching the handwriting of Chinese character strokes.
