摘要

Ferromagnetic shape memory alloys are well known for producing large strains in the presence of magnetic fields. Ni-Mn-Ga is one of the most studied FSMA's due to giant strains induced by external magnetic fields. Recently porous polycrystalline Ni-Mn-Ga has been reported to demonstrate magnetic field induced strains (MFIS) comparable to single crystals. Moreover, Ni-Mn-Ga is brittle subsequently limiting the means by which it can be manufactured. To date, no methodologies are reported for producing porous polycrystalline Ni-Mn-Ga with convoluted geometries. This paper reports on the use of additive manufacturing (AM) to produce porous Ni-Mn-Ga with complex geometries and reversible martensitic transformations.
