An empirical study on technological innovation and economic achievements in Zhejiang, China

This paper attempts to show the relationship between technological innovation and economic development in Zhejiang, China, by using statistical method. Based on our calculation and analysis, we found that such relationship does exist in Zhejiang Province. Furthermore, our analysis suggests that only the innovation achievements in the enterprises, not the innovation activities in universities, have positive impact on the province's economy. In order to further promote technical innovation, Zhejiang must reform its institutes and universities, enhance their innovation abilities, as well as urge them to cooperate with the enterprises in technological innovation. Finally, this paper proposes some a number of recommendations to the policy makers.
