摘要

Efficient and reliable multicast routing is essential to many applications in wireless mesh networks (WMNs) and network coding has been widely acknowledged as a promising mechanism to improve network performance of throughput and reliability. This paper presents a Hybrid Coding Aware Multicast Routing (HCMR) for wireless mesh networks, which exploits inter-session network coding among multicast groups to improve the bandwidth efficiency through reducing transmission number and saving bandwidth, and intra-session network coding within individual multicast group to increase the packets delivering reliability. Specially, a novel intra-session network coding based retransmission mechanism is proposed to avoid useless retransmissions. Simulation results demonstrate that HCMR increase network throughput significantly with reliability guarantee.
