Appearance of Both a True Bleeding Site and an Ectopic Kidney on Tc-99m-Labeled Red Blood Cell Scintigraphy

A 55-year-old man with intermittent tarry stools underwent Tc-99m-labeled red blood cell scintigraphy for localizing the site of the bleeding. The images showed 2 distinct foci of increased radioactivity in the lower abdomen. One of these foci was proven to be the true site of the bleeding while the other one was due to an ectopic kidney.
