HIDDEN ACTS OF VIOLENCE AGAINST INSTITUTIONALIZED ELDERLY IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE CAREGIVER'S PROFILE

This study aimed to investigate possible cases of hidden violence practiced against institutionalized elderly in association with caregiver professional profile. A cross- sectional qualito-quantitative study was conducted with 35 caregivers of Maringa's 2 Seniors institutions. Two structured instruments were used, one containing variables professional profile and the other based on the questionnaire "Caregiver Abuse Screen (CASE)" which aims to evaluate hidden traces of violence. Qualitative variables were analyzed by categorizing the content and qualitative descriptive statistics and association. The associations found chi square (kappa 2) - contingency coefficient. The results showed that the predominant age between 20 and 39 years. Nursing and technical professionals who work less than 5 years in institutions was predominant to. The nursing technicians possessed more difficulty controlling temper the elderly, caregivers who have less formal admitted accomplishing difficulty what is necessary and professionals aged over 40 assaulted over the elderly. We conclude that institutional violence was found on the slopes physical, verbal and neglect and that the job profile was associated with it.
