摘要

Methanol. extracts of 454 parts of 289 angiosperm taxa from Jeju Island, South Korea were tested for inhibitory activities of angiotensin I converting enzyme (ACE) and aminopeptidase N (APN) in order to select the plant species containing bioactive substances for functional foods or medicine. The ACE inhibitory activity was high (> 60%) in the methanol extracts of Euscaphis japonica (fruit); Ternstroemia japonica (stem bark), Cornus kousa (leaf), C. macrophylla (leaf), C. officinalis (fruit), Oenothera odorata (whole plant), and Rhus succedanea (stem). The APN inhibitory activity was high (> 70%) in the methanol extracts of C. macrophylla (leaf, stem bark) and Rhus chinensis (gall). Some species of Cornaceae and Anacardiaceae have both high ACE and APN inhibitory activity. Further research on these plants to develop bioactive materials for functional foods or medicines is required.
