A COMPACT BAND-NOTCHED SLOT ANTENNA FOR UWB APPLICATIONS

A compact planar ultra-wideband (UWB) slot antenna with band-notch function is proposed in this paper. With a horn-shaped radiation slot fed by a microstrip line with a T-shaped stub, the design has a compact size of 22 x 27 mm(2). The band-notch function is realized by a half-wavelength rectangular split ring slit (SRS) embedded in the stub. The impedance bandwidth (VSWR < 2) of the antenna is 3.0 similar to 12 GHz (120%) with a notched band from 4.9 to 5.9 GHz, which covers the WLAN band. The proposed antenna has a fairly good omni-derectional radiation pattern. The performance of the proposed antenna is confirmed by simulation and measurement results, which show that the design is suitable for UWB applications.
