摘要

A method for structural damage identification is proposed based on model updating techniques. In the method, the identification problem is transformed to an optimization problem. A nonlinear least-square objective function with bound-constraints is defined and the sum of differences between the experimental and analytical modal data is minimized in order to identify the location and extent of structural damages. The trust-region approach is then used to solve the optimization problem to make the process more robust and reliable. In addition, the expansion of the original objective function is studied to meet the requirement of least square method. The proposed method is applied to a laboratory-tested frame structure with bolted joints and the assessment results demonstrate the feasibility of the method in structural damage identification.
