摘要

In court trials forensic medical experts often have to evaluate the danger to life due to the nature of injuries suffered. In German criminal law the term danger is widely used in its conceptual and concrete meaning but in natural sciences for the concrete meaning of danger the term risk is preferred as a combined value of danger and exposition. The risk assessment of therapeutic interventions has been well-documented in publications as well as morbidity and mortality expectations. In contrast for risk assessment after injuries a valid comparable database does not exist. This article will distinguish the terms danger and risk and will give natural scientific, forensic and juristic views with relevance to casework.
