A strategic prospective study of the dairy goat industry in the Poitou-Charentes. Predictable impact on the evolution of feed systems Strategic and prospective studies carried out by the dairy goat industry in the region of the Poitou-Charentes led to the choice of a scenario where two types of production coexist: one dedicated to producing premium quality high added-value dairy products an compliance with strict quality requirements) and another dedicated to the industrial production of low-cost dairy products. The challenge in this scenario lies in minimizing production costs (economic and energetic) and making the most of available forage and grass. A support programme has been implemented in order to help farmers make the most of forage and grass systems. This programme also includes 2 additional research projects, REDCap and Patuchev. The technical data highlights the specificities of dairy goat farming and progress achieved in terms of energy and feed self-sufficiency.
