摘要

Biochar (BC) obtained from cotton stalk was used to adsorb ofloxacin (OFL) from aqueous solution. The BC had a high surface area of 1196.24 m(2)/g and adsorbed a maximum of 769.2 mg/g of OFL, and the adsorption kinetics were best represented by a pseudo-second-order kinetic model (R-2 > 0.998), suggesting chemisorption control. The equilibrium adsorption data were well described by the Freundlich model (R-2 > 0.996), indicating a multilayer adsorption process. Additionally, thermodynamic simulation indicated that the adsorption was exothermic. Finally, FTIR spectra of the BC revealed the presence of phosphorus-containing functional groups and C=O, C=C, C-O-C, P=O, P-O-C, and O-C bonds on the BC surface. Our findings indicate that BC from cotton stalk can be applied for the treatment of antibiotic-containing wastewater.
