摘要

Allergic asthma and hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP) are rarely caused by indoor work environment. Generally, exposure to environmental allergens is lower in indoor workplaces than in the environment, transferal of occupational allergens from adjacent workplaces has rarely been reported. Potential occupational allergens are molds and other indoor allergens like mites, ornamental plants (e.g., weeping fig), and animal allergens. A number of studies show an association of dampness and asthma, but the mechanism is unclear, and an allergic reaction to indoor molds has rarely been demonstrated. Few cases of allergic occupational asthma to indoor molds were reported from Finland, but such cases are considered to be extremely rare, and causality is difficult to prove. HP due to molds in offices is also a rare disease that has been described mostly in offices with mold-contaminated air conditioning systems or humidifiers.
