摘要

An eight-week-old mini pig was presented with neurological symptoms. A clinical examination revealed slightly reduced activity, typical dog-sitting posture, poor nutritional condition, atrophy of the hind limb muscles and a dome-shaped skull. During the neurological examination the mini pig showed compulsive and ataxic backward walking as well as a single epileptic seizure. The proprioception was reduced in all limbs and menace response and pupillary reflexes were absent. Subsequent examination via transcranial ultrasound revealed an accumulation of intraventricular fluid. The mini pig was treated successfully with dexamethasone and a vitamin B complex preparation (vitamin B-1, B-2, B-3, B-6 and B-12). This case report describes the first use of a transcranial ultrasound examination in a mini pig for the diagnostic evaluation of hydrocephalus internus.
