Because of the strong rejection capability and the unique physical and chemical sealing ability, drilling fluids based on polyamine and poly aluminum become more and more beneficial for the complex drilling engineering, especially for the drilling of shale layers which are easy to be collapsed. Taking the practical condition of Jilin oilfield into consideration, the polyamine and the poly aluminum are selected as the main inhibitor and blocking agent respectively. Being added into some other additives, such as filtrate reducer, it becomes the poly aluminum amine system which has the strong rejection capability and anti-collapse ability. According to the parameter tested, such as the rheological property, filter loss, temperature resistance, inhibitive ability and anti-pollution capability, and so on, it is proved that the system has the strong inhibitive capability and the first recovery rate can be above 80% in the strong water-sensitive shale rolling experiments. The system can bear a certain amount of pollutants especially 15% NaCl and 1% CaCl2. Moreover, it is with the strong temperature resistance of 150°C. Through the methods of scanning electron microscope and water-sensitive experiment, it is summarized as follows: (1) the stress changes easily caused by filtrate invading breakable formation;(2) the soft mudstone easily induce necking sticking, balling up sticking and some other borehole problems. The system achieves a good result through on-site applications for 14 wells in Jilin Oilfield. It solves the problems of dropping stick, sticking during pulling out of hole and slacking off, all of which are caused by borehole sloughing and shrinkage during drilling in the shale formation. It is proved that when compared with the prevent caving drilling mud used in early, the drilling fluid system of poly aluminum amine has stronger rejection capability and blocking ability. So it can effectively prevent the shale from collapsing.
