This review article outlines the prerequisites for the use of combination therapy in the treatment of patients with arterial hypertension and the advantages of using fixed combinations of antihypertensive drugs in modern conditions. The possibility of using a new fixed combination of angiotensin II receptor blocker azilsartan medoxomil and a thiazide-like diuretic chlorthalidone in the outpatient practice is discussed.
