摘要
This paper is a review of literature which considers the theory put forward by Dr. Carl Salomon in 1931 that the temperature created by cutting metal increased with cutting speed up to a certain point and then started to decrease as the cutting speed continued to climb.
The conclusion is that the theory is not valid for the tool-work interface temperature, but could be true for the surface temperature of the workpiece. More research needs to be carried out to verify this.
