摘要

The presence of interfaces affects a range of important features in polymer systems, from polymerization reactions to functional characteristics. To develop next generation polymeric materials with finer feature size, thinner components and high functionality, it is necessary to design and control these interfaces and to develop tools to analyze them. The aim of our current studies is to elucidate the relation between the interface and functionality by preparing well-defined interfaces, through the control of molecular weight, polydispersity index, stereo regularity, and by analyzing the interfaces on scales ranging from the atomic level to the sub nm level, using synchrotron radiation X-ray scattering. Novel functional materials can be obtained by using our improved understanding of how to control the interfaces.
