摘要

A new spectrometric instrument, called a spectrophotopolarimeter, capable of simultaneously obtaining the transmittance/absorbance and optical rotation dispersion curve of absorbing samples presenting optical activity, is described. The instrument is based on an acoustic-optical tunable filter, made of an anisotropic TeO2 crystal, together with appropriate software, used for data acquisition and treatment. Furthermore, the instrument can obtain a new type of spectrum that contains, at the same time, information from the absorption and optical rotation properties of the sample. The instrument was designed to work in the visible spectral region (450-800 nm). The main advantages and drawbacks of the instrument are discussed, based on results obtained by measuring samples containing different dyes and sucrose.
