摘要

A new method was put forward to calculate the breaking load of mooring line, suitable for six strand wire rope and spiral strand wire rope. Base on the mooring wire rope structure, the mechanical model for calculating axial strength of the mooring wire rope was built and simplified. The breaking wire caused the strength reduction and the location was indeterminacy. The breaking wire distribution probability model and calculating were provided, in which the friction among the wires was considered. The calculating and analyzing procedure of axial strength reduction were put forward. The rule's limit to mooring wire rope type for calculating the axial strength had been solved. Through calculating various wire ropes breaking loads, the statistics result was compared with the API rule's result. The results showed good agreement, and the calculation method can provide evidence for mooring wire rope axial strength reduction assessment and mooring system safety assessment.
